Common Air Conditioning Repairs
Usually we get air conditioning repair calls when the unit either isn’t turning on or isn’t blowing cold air. Of course, there are other problems but those fall into the minority. If your unit isn’t turning on, there are a few places that there could be a problem – the wall circuit breaker, the circuit breaker on the blower motor, an electrical short or a problem with the thermostat. We can usually have the problem diagnosed in ten minutes and start the repair right away. If your A/C unit is blowing, but no cold air is coming out, that’s a whole different story. The problem could be in the thermostat or any of a number of components in the heat exchanger. This problem usually takes longer to diagnose (and repair) and often costs more than it’s worth to fix. If you’re lucky, you just have a minor leak in the refrigerant line. As long as you aren’t using R 22 Freon, a patch and recharge are affordable. If you have an older unit, however, the cost of replacement refrigerant might be so high that a new unit is in order.
Other issues we deal with on a regular basis include dirty evaporator coils, blocked drainage lines, Compressor fan failure, fan belt replacement and out of level exterior units. If you need an air conditioner repair but don’t see it on the list, give us a call. There’s a good chance we can handle it.

New Air Conditioner Installation
If your old air conditioner isn’t getting the job done, or you’d like to talk about newer, more efficient models, we’re your guys. If you have a unit that was made before 2004, it might run on the phased out refrigerant R-22. They are extremely expensive to recharge and should be replaced as soon as you can afford it. The models that are on the market now are up to 50% more efficient than the ones made ten years ago. They are cheaper to run, highly energy efficient, have built in humidity controls, are highly customizable and some even come with electrostatic filtration systems for greater air quality control. In a nutshell, although they are expensive upfront, these units can pay for themselves in as little as five years. Our techs will help you pick out the best unit for your home taking into account the square footage of your home, your typical usage and how it will work with your current ductwork and other home comfort appliances.
Our professional heating and cooling techs have extensive experience repairing heat pumps. We know what the perfect balance point for the San Diego area is and how to make sure you get the most out of your current system.
